Hello!
We’re the Quirin’s.
Derrick “Sherpa”, Bekah “Kanga”, and Ellie “Roo”.
We thru hiked the Appalachian Trail together as a family in 2017. Our lives were changed by our thru hike, and we want to share our experience with anyone who is interested in learning about extended back country trips with babies. Our goal is to be a resource for families through VLOGs, blogging, and social media.
Life doesn’t end after kids- in fact, it’s become more thrilling and fulfilling! Outdoor excursions together as a family have contributed to living a life full and abundant, even with kids 🙂
Our next big trek is the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route, beginning August 2018! It’s a 2,700+ mile back country cycling path from Banff, Alberta, Canada, down through the midwest USA, to the Mexico border. Ellie Roo will be in tow!
Hey guys, praying for you as you embark on this great adventure. I am sure there will be lots of challenges but there will be many more joys. So happy for you! With much love, Bill Pfister

It’s a long and adventurous journey. Brings back memories the feature story that I read in NG years ago. I would love to see more photos. All the best and keep safe.

Thank you guys for sharing your adventure with us! It has always been a dream of mine to thru-hike the AT. When I became a mom in 2015 I thought those dreams were over until the bubs is much older. As a single mom I wonder if it’s even feasible to just do it with him and I but your story is getting the soul adventure itch going again.

You guys are such an inspiration! :] If you ever had the time, I would love to read some too/tricks, supply/equipments lists. We hike, and backpack with our daughter, but haven’t been brace enough to do anything even a fraction as adventurous as this!
